Accessibility Guidelines

The APACE Accessibility Guidelines are conceived to support the publishing sector and all the players in the book value chain in their transition towards accessibility.

As accessibility becomes increasingly central to publishing strategies in Europe and worldwide, the need for shared methodologies and continuous learning is crucial. In this perspective, the APACE Accessibility Guidelines are conceived as a support for those who are working toward that goal. They provide concrete recommendations, examples, and methodologies aimed at integrating accessibility principles into organisational strategies, production workflows, distribution practices, and readers’ experiences.

The three sets of guidelines cover key aspects of the adoption and the implementation of accessibility:

Guidelines for adopting accessibility as a core element of an organization

How to integrate accessibility into company strategies and implement accessible workflows by adapting or redesigning production and distribution processes.

Guidelines for reading accessible e-books

For readers with print impairment on how to benefit from mainstream born accessible publication describing the opportunities offered by the new legislative framework and by the wider availability of digital accessible publications.

The APACE guidelines are available for translation into additional languages in order to facilitate their adoption across different national contexts.
